perfect that which concerns me;

Assistant Supervisor (AS)/International District Missionary Janice V. Sanderlin is the daughter of Clarice L. Sanderlin and the late John H. Sanderlin, accepted the Lord as her personal Savior over 50 years ago, and has followed in the footsteps of her grandmother, District Missionary Emma F. Bell, who served in ministry as an active District Missionary for more than 50 years. AS Sanderlin is a member of New Jerusalem Church of God in Christ and the New Wave District in Virginia Beach, Virginia, where she continues to serve God and His church under the leadership of her pastor, Superintendent Dr. Waddee B. Thoroughgood.
AS Sanderlin is a graduate of Tidewater Bible College, Bible Teachers Institute and one of the Inaugural graduates to receive a certificate of Professional Development from the Hampton University School of Religion. AS Sanderlin retired after 34 years with the US Postal Service where she was a Supervisor of Distribution Operations and ended her career as the Human Resource Supervisor. Since 2016 she has maintained a license as an Independent Financial Professional specializing in Life Insurance and Annuity.
Inspired by the teachings and examples of men and women who served the ministry sacrificially, she too has served in numerous capacities, always referencing the Mount Olive COGIC as her place of training and development. She served as secretary of Sunday School, usher, choir member, youth representative to jurisdictional conventions and participated in all the youth and young adult programs. Later as an adult, she transitioned to the New Jerusalem COGIC under the leadership of the late Bishop Barnett K. Thoroughgood, where she received a higher level of training in the responsibilities of serving and leading. She has served as Sunday School teacher, church clerk, business manager and director of the choir, Missionary, and Special Events and Conferences Coordinator.
In 1996 she accepted the assignment to serve as the District Missionary and also served as a Pastoral Assistant. These assignments presented once in a lifetime opportunity to serve, such as being the organizer of the Inaugural Banquet for the late Bishop Thoroughgood elevation to the office of Bishop and the Mid-Atlantic Crusade hosting the late Presiding Bishop Chandler D. Owens.
After attending the International District Missionary Unit (IDMU) for a few years, she was asked to serve as one of the financial secretary within the unit and later elevated to an executive secretary position under the leadership of the late Dr. Rosella Burks the 2nd International District Missionary Unit president. Having served Mother Burks and the unit faithfully until her demise, a request was made by the incoming president, Dr. Noma Roberson, (3rd in succession) to have DM Sanderlin serve as her Vice President. Recognized for her ability to assist leaders she was appointed in 2017 as the Vice President of IDMU by General Supervisor, Mother Willie Mae Rivers and reappointed as 1st Vice President of the IDMU by General Supervisor, Mother Barbara McCoo Lewis who later installed her in 2018 as an Assistant Supervisor under the late Bishop Wilbert L. Daniels Sr., Jurisdictional Prelate and Mother Jacqueline G. Holmes, Jurisdictional Supervisor. Since which time she has become Dean of the Iconic Virginia Second Jurisdiction School of Licensing and Credentialing under the leadership of Bishop Michael B. Golden Jr.
For more than 25 years she served the leaders of the Int’l District Missionary Units, and on July 9, 2024, she was appointed, by General Supervisor Mother Barbara McCoo Lewis to serve as Interim President of the IDMU. Her continued service to the IDMU afforded her the opportunity to display her strong leadership abilities and hence was appointed President of the International District Missionary Unit on January 15, 2025 by General Supervisor, Mother Barbara McCoo Lewis during the Leadership Conference in Louisville, KY.
AS Sanderlin is a great blessing to the church, and she lives Ecclesiastes 9:10, “Whatever your hand finds to do, do it with all your might,” Recognizing that the Lord is perfecting the things that concern her. (Psalm 138:8)
